Nash & Galen's Vibrant Rooftop Wedding

June 19, 2022 at The Durham Hotel

Like many modern romances, Nash & Galen's began with an online dating app! The two met in 2015, and before they knew it, Nash got down on one knee on the Christchurch Bridge overlooking the Thames river in the UK and asked Galen to marry him.

Their big day took place toward the end of Spring 2022, and it was a laid-back and joyous affair! The color palate was green and beige, with pops of color for Pride! To compliment Nash & Galen's dark green attire, the wedding party donned beige suits and all wore colorful floral bowties and boutonnieres. During the reception, they also wore rainbow NASH or GALEN hats to show their loyalty!

During the ceremony, Nash's brother's girlfriend, Sara, played the violin. Then during the reception, guests signed the Jenga-piece guestbook and The Poetry Fox created custom poems for everyone! There was lots of dancing, but toward the end of the night, a friend of the couple hosted a fun Trivia Game!

The Durham Hotel is a beautiful venue located in Downtown Durham. Their rooftop is a wonderful wedding spot, especially for covid-conscious couples like Nash & Galen, who wanted their event to be entirely outdoors! Though the rooftop is typically set up for smaller events, the hotel was able to accommodate Nash & Galen's guest count of over 100 people with a cocktail-style reception with lots of lounge seating and heavy h'orderves, rather than a sit-down dinner.

The cake, by S. Richardson Cakes, was an absolute work of art, and quite the focal point!

One of the most memorable and touching moments was when Galen and Sara surprised Nash with a beautiful violin duet!

With KaraMia Events, Nash & Galen didn't have to question whether we or any vendors we'd recommend would be LGBTQ-friendly, and they knew they'd have a team to help them make sustainable choices for their celebration!

Their miniature programs used far less paper than traditional ones (and they were adorable!), and they opted for plantable seeded-paper coasters as favors! and of course, we worked with The Durham Hotel to compost all food waste, and the KaraMia Events team ensured that all waste was responsibly recycled or appropriately discarded!
